The S2-40 Pool Rover is a robotic pool cleaner that comes from the reliable company Aqua Products. Made in the USA and with a great reputation, there are few cleaners that compare with the S2-40 for both above ground pools and in-ground pools. Robotic pool cleaners were a market that was once very expensive and out of budget for most pool owners but has now become much more competitive in price. Although spending $299 is not a daily expenditure, when considering how much time a robotic pool cleaner can save on pool maintenance, it is easy to rationalize purchasing one.

The functionality of a robotic pool cleaner is extremely simple. Plug it into and outlet, drop it in the pool, and let it do the dirty work. If it were any more complicated, robotic cleaners would not have the popularity they have amongst above ground pool owners. The automatic shutoff feature allows you to start a cleaning cycle and not have to stay home to turn it off. The filter bag is easily removed and cleans out well depending on what type of cleaning you ask the S2-40 to complete and storage is a breeze since the cleaner is not very heavy or very large. Overall if you are looking to not have to get your feet wet vacuuming but want to try a new approach to above ground pool maintenance, this cleaner is worth every penny.

Pro's

Simple Plug n’ Play operation – No installation, hoses, booster pumps or complex connections.

Conclusion

A highly reputable company, a competitively priced product, and expectations that meets its claims, if you are just entering the world of robotic pool cleaners, this is the place to start. My S2-40 Pool Rover works in one direction but as soon as it stops and gets ready to reverse the propeller stops working. The lights on the control unit start blinking. Do you have any suggestions?

      Hi Francois,

The lights blinking on the power supply can mean the following:

      • That the unit is out of water too long (the lights will start blinking on the power supply and will shut the unit off to protect the motor).
      • If there is debris on the propeller, or if the motor is loose on the bracket.

In your case it is most likely debris on the propeller or the propeller shaft.
